Route confirmed for Olympic and Paralympic heroes parade across BCP
Local athletes who took part in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be toured around Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole next Monday.
Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council will celebrate the achievements of local athletes who took part in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games with a special event on Monday 28 October.
The five extraordinary athletes confirmed to be attending the event are: Bryony Page (Gymnastics Trampoline, gold medallist), Izzy Songhurst (Gymnastics Trampoline), Jack Eyers (Paralympic Canoe, silver medallist), Leo McCrea (Paralympic Swimming, gold medallist), Matt Aldridge (Rowing, bronze medallist).
The celebration kicks off at Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre at 10.15am, where they will meet supporters before boarding an open-top bus to embark on their journey through the area, visiting Kings Park Leisure and Learning Centre at approximately 12.05pm and arriving at Rossmore Leisure Centre at around 1.55pm.
There will be a cheerleading display at Kings Park and a trampoline display at Rossmore, followed by a short ceremony to close the event with a speech by Cllr Millie Earl.
Here is the timetable for the day and the route for the bus. Residents are welcome to wave from their doorsteps or see the athletes at the leisure centres.
First stop: BCP Leisure Centre – Two Riversmeet, Christchurch (10:15 to 11.15am) –
– Fountain Roundabout: 11:25am
– Southbourne Grove: 11:30-11:35am
– Boscombe Overcliff Drive: 11:35-11:45am
– Sea Road (Boscombe Pier): 11:45-11:55am
– Christchurch Road (near McDonald’s): 12:00-12:05pm
Second stop: BCP Leisure Centre – Kings Park, Bournemouth (12:05 to 1pm)
– Holdenhurst Road (Springbourne, Asda): 1:10-1:15pm
– Westover Road: 1:15-1:20pm
– Gervis Place: 1.20-1.25pm
– The Triangle: 1:25-1:35pm
– Seamoor Road (Westbourne): 1:40-1:45pm
– Poole Road (Branksome railway): 1:45-1:50pm
Final stop: BCP Leisure Centre – Rossmore, Poole (1:55 to 3pm)
