South Korean visitors check out longevity similarities at Wimborne Minster
Visitors from South Korea, a country that has topped a global survey for longevity, called into Wimborne Minster as word spreads that East Dorset has a similar claim to fame.
Wimborne Town Hall was flying an unusual flag last week – that of South Korea.
It was in honour of 20 South Korean visitors to the town. The party included mayors representing four of their counties.
South Korea has topped a recent global survey for longevity, with many residents reaching 90+ years. Word had obviously spread that East Dorset has a similar claim to fame and it appears they wanted to visit to see what the similarities might be that could contribute towards this.
The Mayor of Wimborne Minster, Cllr Sue Cook, hosted a reception at the town hall, and following this the visitors were given a tour of the Minster by Christine Oliver. After lunching at a local restaurant they departed for an afternoon visit to Stonehenge.
