Sports stars’ padel challenge for Julia’s House
Ex-England rugby coach leads 48-hour padel-playing extreme effort for charity.
A former England rugby coach is among the lineup of stars supporting Julia’s House in a padel marathon. Ben Stocken and three teammates, aka Padel Gone Pad, are attempting to break a Guinness World Record by playing padel continuously for at least 48 hours.
The challenge will take place from 19th to 21st November. Ben and his team are raising funds for both Julia’s House and The Ellis Edwards Foundation, with an ambitious fundraising target of £25,000.
Padel is among the UK’s fastest growing sports, and the team will need all their sporting prowess for the challenge. The team includes former rugby players, ultra-marathon runners and one who cycled across Europe for a rest!
They describe themselves as: “United by a love of ridiculous challenges, questionable decisions and discovering just how far we can push ourselves when it matters. This challenge will test us physically and mentally. There will be exhaustion, aching muscles, sleep deprivation and moments when every instinct tells us to stop. But this challenge is about something far bigger than a record. It is about using every hour on court to support children and families facing some of life’s most difficult moments.”
