Talbot Village Trust enables Diverse Abilities to hit the road
Thanks to a donation of £15,000 from Talbot Village Trust, Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities, has been able to purchase new wheelchair accessible vans.
Thanks to a donation of £15,000 from Talbot Village Trust, Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities, has been able to purchase new wheelchair accessible vans.
Following increased demand for assistance, Diverse Abilities has appointed five new keyworkers to its Supported Living Service.
Although the Dorset Neon Run wasn’t able to take place in Poole Park this year, 65 participants walked, ran, and danced their own five-kilometre routes between Saturday 23 and Monday 25 May, raising £5,500 for Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities.
Divers Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity has received donations to assist with its day-to-day delivery of care from organisations in the local community and beyond.
If you had been training for Diverse Abilities’ Dorset Neon Run – set for 26 April – and had been disappointed when it was postponed until 12 September, don’t despair, as it will now be taking place virtually over the Bank Holiday weekend of Saturday 23, Sunday 24, and Monday 25 May.
Diverse Abilities, like so many other charities in Dorset, has had to come up with alternative ways to raise funds following the cancellation of a raft of its fundraising events due to government guidelines.
Diverse Abilities has launched Wellbeing @ Home, which is taking place over three weeks. The content provided is suitable for the whole family, including magic shows, yoga workshops, sign-and-sign-along songs, and story time.
Key workers are required to help with Diverse Abilities Supported Living Service, providing support to adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities and enabling them to live independent lives.
Before lockdown, The Beehive Centre, which is operated by Dorset’s disability charity Diverse Abilities, celebrated its 25th birthday at The Hamworthy Club.
