Huge turnout for Wimborne Minster Pancake Race

The award means that next year, the town will deliver a programme of extraordinary cultural and community events.
In a huge show of community spirit, more people than ever turned up to compete in Wimborne’s annual pancake race on Shrove Tuesday.
Not only will the winner of the adult race be crowned the Minster Pancake Champion, they will receive a cup and a prize from Dorset View magazine.
It might have been raining, but for the third time in its 24-year history, Wimborne’s Pancake Race was run inside the Minster church.
Take part in the event, which will be held on Shrove Tuesday 1 March, for a chance to win a prize provided by Viewpoint magazine.
Local people tested their tossing skills by taking part in a virtual pancake event this year, organised by Wimborne BID.
Rowan and Esther Davey got into practice for the virtual pancake event which this year is being organised by Wimborne BID.
It will be different this year, but people will be able to enter by filming themselves tossing a pancake for 30 seconds and posting to Facebook.
The race was scheduled for Shrove Tuesday 16 February, but due to Covid-19 restrictions it has been cancelled.
