Dorset Cancer Care Foundation’s (DCCF) annual fundraising drive has seen impromptu tea parties popping up all over.
DCCF was formed in 2012 by Poole residents Eve Went, Pam Jeffries and Leslie-May Harrison and supporters fundraise tirelessly to provide grants for cancer sufferers. The charity funds everything from new pushchairs for children with leukaemia to much-needed breaks for the terminally ill and even heating bills and mortgage arrears.
The charity’s patron is Jeff Mostyn, Chairman of Bournemouth AFC. The charity has been urging groups and businesses to stage tea parties on its behalf throughout June.
Founder Eve Went, said, “This is our second, annual fundraising week and we have been bowled over by peoples generosity. Sandbanks businesses staged their very own ‘royal’ tea party this week and raised a whopping £400. Businesses all along Canford Cliffs High Street also staged their own events and some shoppers were giving us twenty pound notes.
“Meanwhile local Nat West branches, Camden Bar in Westbourne, LV, Caterpillar in Ferndown, Talbot Heath School and also many individuals across the county have organised tea parties or other events. We are very grateful for all their help.”
People wishing to hold a tea party for DCCF are asked to email: dibirdDCCF@outlook.com or visit: www.dccf.co.uk for more information.
