The Ringwood Group of the HGS are holding open days from now until Friday 22 July, allowing the public to find out more about their ancestors.
The Ringwood Group of the Hampshire Genealogical Society (HGS) are holding open days at the Ringwood Meeting House until Friday 22 July.
Family history has become a very popular pastime following the success of programmes such as Who Do You Think You Are, and on each of the open days, from 10am to 12pm (10am to 2.30pm on Wednesday), members of the public are invited to view an exhibition put on by local HGS members, and members will provide advice on researching your own family history.
Access to genealogical websites will be available and census records, parish records and birth, marriages and death records will be searched on these sites for any mention of your ancestors.
On Wednesday evening, the exhibition at the Meeting House will be open from 7pm until 9pm, and attendees will also be able to receive help and guidance from our members. The Ringwood Group also hopes to demonstrate the new HGS website on the evening.
The Ringwood Group meets every month, and HGS membership costs just £15 per year, which includes a subscription to the magazine. Why not go along and start looking for your own ancestors.
Refreshments will be available. For further information, contact the Ringwood Group Organiser Paul Pinhorne on ringwood@hgs-online.org.uk, or on 07982 257510.
