Wimborne open gardens raises nearly £4,500
As Wimborne in Bloom celebrates its 30th anniversary, a total of 22 gardens were open for the public to enjoy.
People had the chance to view 22 gardens recently when Wimborne in Bloom – which is celebrating its 30th anniversary – held its Open Gardens Day.
The event raised nearly £4,500 for In Bloom.
Richard Nunn, chairman, said: “Wimborne in Bloom takes the opportunity to thank all of the approximately 400 members of the public who visited and supported our Open Gardens Day on Sunday 26 June. The threatening forecast did not put off the visitors and all were rewarded with a lovely day enjoying wandering around the gardens that were open in and around the town of Wimborne Minster. Those selling refreshments and plants were well supported and helped boost the amount raised on the day to almost £4,500 – a superb result which will help in a major way to fund the floral displays in the town.
“Perhaps the biggest ‘thank you’ is to those who spent the day taking visitors around their gardens and, of course, spending many long hours prior so that they were in pristine condition. We were also particularly grateful to Christopher Batten, Estate Agents for their generous sponsoring of the event. We look forward to all supporting again next year.”
