Wimborne to go green this weekend
The week-long Planet Wimborne Green Festival begins on Saturday 11 October.
Community groups, businesses, schools, churches and local organisations are putting on a week of events and activities designed to help people live more sustainably as part of the Planet Wimborne Green Festival, which begins this Saturday.
The environmentally friendly festival is held annually and organised by local charity Planet Wimborne. This year’s festival will be officially opened on Minster Green at 10.30am on Saturday 11 October by Paralympic silver-medal-winning canoeist Jack Eyers, with Wimborne’s Deputy Mayor, Cllr Simon Wheeler, Town Crier Chris Brown, and Planet Wimborne Chairperson Linda Bunting.
The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Buy Better, Be More’. As well as the fair on the Minster Green, there will be workshops, talks, and more fun activities throughout the week.
In a statement, the festival organisers said: “Come along to Planet Wimborne’s annual Green Festival to meet local groups and hear about all the great environmental activities going on in the town and surrounding area.
“The festival is going from strength to strength, and we believe we have something for everyone: from the Minster Fair on the first Saturday to craft workshops and talks spread throughout the week.
