Wimborne underpass creating a buzz
The underpass at Hanham Road is being transformed by artist Kizzi Bennett working with Beaucroft College students.

Wimborne’s Hanham Road underpass is being transformed.
Local muralist, painter and designer Kizzi Bennett, of Kizzi B Creative, is creating a stunning mural in the 53-foot long tunnel. She has been working with 12 students from Wimborne’s Beaucroft College who are heading towards an Arts Award Accreditation.
With buzzing bees, bright flowers and nature imagery, Bennett said the theme of the mural is community working together.
She said: “Bees are such team players. Our bees represent the students pollinating the wall with artwork. We’re creating artistic honeycomb-style cells to display the student designs as a key part of the mural.”
One of the participating students, aged 16, said: “I keep exotic birds which have been my inspiration for my element of the mural.”
There will also be tigers, flowers and sunsets featuring in the designs.
Laura Byford, visual arts leader at Beaucroft said: “Our students are loving coming out of school to enjoy this opportunity to create and work with Kizzi on site. We are so proud of how hard they are working on their designs.”
The mural project is funded entirely by Wimborne BID who would like to thank the public for their patience while the underpass is closed off.
Chairperson of Wimborne BID Fiona Harwood said: “We hope it will create a wonderful pathway between our main town car park and the town centre. It will take a couple of weeks to finish, and we can’t wait to unveil it.”
