Wimborne’s track and field season comes to an end

In the final South West Athletics League match of the season on 1 September in Exeter, Wimborne slipped from second to third in the table but won both the Under 13 Girls trophy and the Relays Trophy – a sure sign of a great team effort by the club.

Back to school preparations and the start of the winter sporting season combined to keep the number of competitors relatively low.

However, Rosie Gollings was in fine form in the under-13s, winning the 800m in 2.28.03 and the 200m in 28.72 seconds. Rosie combined with Tilly Pretty, Leila Baines and Lila Richards to win the relay in 58.96 seconds.

Maisie Robbins can be pleased with her second placed 1.2m in the high jump, and Mila Desborough was second in the shot with 7.8m.

Under-13 Ethan Bodman scored good points with his second place in the 200 metres in 28.45 seconds and third place in the 100 metres in 14.27 seconds. Zac Johnson was second in the shot with 6.58m and Mason Dicker was third in the long jump with 3.92m. George Connolly joined them in winning the relay.

Aspen Stobart won the Under-15 discus with 28.57m and was second in the hammer with 40.04m. Olivia Jones was third in the hammer and Ava Elliott Smith was second in the 100 metres in 13.26 seconds. Elliott Trickey won the Under-15s triple jump with 11.07m. He was second in the 100 metres with 12.52 seconds and third in the 200 metres in 25.93 seconds. He was complemented by Harley Stanley who was second in the 200 metres with 25.74 seconds and third in the 100 metres in 12.73 seconds. Winter Stobart was second in the Senior Women’s Hammer with 28.25m and third in the discus with 38.01m.
