AFC Bournemouth had enjoyed a brilliant start to the new season, with back-to-back wins in league and cup against Charlton Athletic and Portsmouth respecitvely. However, the Cherries were given a huge wake-up call after receiving a hammering away from home against Watford on the weekend, the Londoners comprehensively winning 6-1.

Two consultants from the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch hospitals have raised thousands of pounds for the hospital charity by completing an epic cycle challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats, covering 990 miles in 14 days.

Over £700 was raised on 4 August for Hangers Heroes at a fete held by Altogether Care at their Steepleton Manor residential home. Local produce stands, a gardeners question table, activities for children such as splat the rat and archery kept the whole family entertained.

Fundraisers for Diverse Abilities Plus, the Dorset-based charity that supports children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities, are taking part in the Great South Run, taking place in Portsmouth on Sunday 27 October. The charity is urging more keen runners to take part and to fill the remaining 12 places available.

Following the announcement made by East Dorset District Council that it will be axing the tourist information centres in Christchurch and Wimborne, people from as far away as Spain have already rallied to save the TIC in Wimborne.
