Art in the sunshine – Sculpture on the Beach 2014

Sea serpents, giant lobsters and the footsteps of dinosaurs were just some of the highly imaginative creations at Bridport Arts Centre’s Sculpture on the Beach event at Hive Beach on Sunday 20 July.
Run in partnership with The National Trust, this annual event encourages families to get creative and make some wild art using only things they find on the beach. Twenty teams took part using a wide range of materials including sand, sticks, stones, rope, flowers, shells and seaweed to create a range of wonderful exhibits.

Borough of Poole adopts former Navy defence boat

HMS Medusa, a former Royal Navy coastal defence boat, was officially adopted by Borough of Poole at a special reception on Friday 1 August.
The Mayor of Poole, Cllr Peter Adams, was pleased to present Alan Watson, Captain, with a scroll in honour of the special relationship the borough has with HMS Medusa. In return Alan Watson presented the Mayor with a pennant from the Medusa Trust.
