Characters from Wimborne Community Theatre’s production, ‘What They Left Behind’, visited the Italian Market in Wimborne on 6 May.
The Coles, who owned the Ironmonger’s shop (now Priest’s House Museum), piano teacher, Gertrude Coggin, and Lady Hanham talked to visitors about life in Wimborne in 1916. And quite by chance, Lady Hanham (1916) bumped into the current Lady Hanham in the café at Deans Court.
Another walkabout in the town by WCT actors is planned for Saturday, 14 May.
The production, set in town centre locations, involves children, adults and members of local choirs and an orchestra, and is based on research undertaken by WCT in partnership with Priests House Museum over the last two years, focussing on the impact of the Great War on the people living in Wimborne.
Funded by Arts Council England and other funders, the show also involves: artistic director, Tony Horitz, movement director, Rosalind Conlon, sound artist, Adrian Newton and music director Karen Wimhurst.
A Sign Language Interpreted performance will be available on 20 May. All performance dates are 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 28 May, at 8pm.
Tickets are available from Allendale House on 01202 888992 and Wimborne TIC on 01202 886116.
