Pick-Your-Own blueberries will open at the UK’s original plantation near Wimborne on 29 July. And fans of these delicious fruits will be delighted by the big, juicy blueberries.
Swelled by the spring rain, while the crop is later than every before, the fruit is in excellent condition, large, full of flavour, and well worth the wait.
The Trehane family pioneered commercial blueberry production in the UK back in the 1950s. Today eight varieties are grown, all without any chemical pesticides or artificial fertilisers.
Just in case of rain, some of the fruit is now under polytunnels, and ready picked fruit is also available for those unable to pick their own.
Trehane Nursery is in Stapehill Road, near Wimborne, next door to Knoll Gardens. The PYO season lasts for around five to six weeks, fruit and weather permitting, and opens every day from 10am–4pm. Call 01202 873642 to confirm availability and mention you saw this article on the mags4dorset website.
