Dorset care home provider funds storytelling sessions
Care South has presented funds to enable Christian-based storytelling sessions for residents in their homes
A cause which provides interactive, Christian-based storytelling sessions to residents in care homes based across Dorset has received a donation of £1,755 from home provider and registered charity, Care South.
Each session provided by Truth Be Told is attended by local families and children and has a different theme, with props to spark the imagination of residents and children.
Residents at St Ives House care home, on Horton Road, in Ringwood are now looking forward to a year of storytelling every Friday following the donation from Care South’s Community Fund. The sessions will be led by Charlotte Leighton, community worker at Pinehurst Community Church in West Moors.
Please email Charlotte on Community@pinehurst.org.uk to register an interest in attending the storytelling sessions at St Ives House.
Another Care South home, Castle Dene, which is based in Bournemouth, already enjoys a partnership with Truth Be Told, which sees the residents enjoy storytelling sessions with local nursery school children each week.
Rachel Theunissen, chief operating officer for Truth Be Told, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to enable St Ives House residents to enjoy the magical experience of our storytelling sessions. We love working with the residents at Castle Dene and are looking forward to seeing the positive impact this will now have on St Ives House residents over the next 12 months. The sessions will help to spark memories and discover different ways to use their imaginations alongside local children and their families.”
Simon Bird, CEO of Care South, said: “We are delighted to further support Truth Be Told to deliver their fantastic sessions for more residents to enjoy, explore their creativity and experience the joy of reading with children.”
