The annual bun walk, an age-old tradition dating back over 40 years is about to take place in Wimborne and if you join in, you will literally find buns ‘growing’ on trees.
f you want to take part in the annual bun walk to Pamphill on Good Friday afternoon, put your best foot forward after the 3-hour service in the minster. From there you can walk up to Pamphill Green with the rest of the congregation and find hot cross buns literally ‘growing’ on the trees.
The minster service will be led by The Archdeacon of Dorset, The Venerable Anthony MacRow-Wood between noon and 3pm, after which the walk up to Pamphill Green begins. Youngsters and adults walk via what were the Cuthbury allotments and then alongside the River Stour and up the hill to Pamphill.
This age-old Wimborne tradition goes back over 40 years.
Miraculously whenever Good Friday comes round, the buns appear.
