Heritage Strategy launched for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole

People across the conurbation are being urged to put forward their views on the strategy which will encompass buildings, parks and coastlines.

Local people have until Sunday 6 September to put forward their views of such historic places as Christchurch Priory and Highcliffe Castle as Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council prepares its first Heritage Strategy.

Heritage can be found in many forms, from historic buildings, parks and landscapes to museums, coastlines, local traditions, community stories and cultural assets that contribute to the area’s unique identity and sense of place.

Cllr Andy Martin, portfolio holder for Customer, Communications and Culture, said:

“Our heritage and culture is all around us. It tells the story of who we are, where we have come from and what makes Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole such special places to live, work and visit.

“This strategy sets out how we can work together to celebrate, protect and strengthen our heritage while ensuring it continues to support community wellbeing, learning, pride in place and economic prosperity. I encourage everyone with an interest in our heritage and cultural landscape to take part in the consultation and help shape its future.”

All consultation documents will be available to view and download online. Paper copies will also be available on request from BCP libraries.
