Ferndown In Bloom winners announced

No wonder Ferndown looked so colourful this year – Ferndown in Bloom, sponsored by Haskins Garden Centres, generated a lot of interest and the results are just in.
The formal presentation evening took place at Haskins Restaurant last night (23 September) with Ferndown Mayor, Cllr Julie Robinson, presenting the prizes.

Ferndown in Bloom’s Tallest Sunflower competition sponsored jointly by Haskins Garden Centre at Longham and mags4dorset produced some incredible entries. Some were spindly, some were flower-heavy and some were like Jack’s beanstalk and disappeared into the sky. 16ft boat stolen in Hamworthy

Thieves have stolen a 16-foot boat from its mooring. It was taken between Sunday 30 August and Sunday 20 September from a mooring in Poole Harbour near to Lake Road, Hamworthy. The Isla Skiff is green above the water line and pink below, with a cream interior and pine seats. The sails were not onboard.…

Seized fake goods to benefit the needy

A haul of seized counterfeit goods is set for a new lease of life with some of the world’s poorest people thanks to Borough of Poole’s Trading Standards team.
The fake goods consisting of clothing, footwear and bags and with a genuine retail value of around £45,000 was seized by Trading Standards officers during three investigations into the supply of counterfeit goods in Poole.

Jailed for 13 years for mowing down people in Bournemouth

A man who drove at a group of people enjoying a night out in Bournemouth town centre has been jailed for 13 years.
Dean James Cambage, 33, was sentenced today, (23 September), at Bournemouth Crown Court after pleading guilty at the same court on 30 June to dangerous driving, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of grievous bodily harm.

Family tribute following fatal collision

The 91-year-old man who died in a fatal collision in Lytchett Matravers on Friday 18 September has been named by his family.
Peter Brett, of Lytchett Matravers, sadly died following the collision between his blue Mercedes A class car and a white Ford Transit Connect van, being driven by an 84-year-old Swanage man.
