Tributes to Swanage Railway pioneer

Heart-felt tributes are being paid to a determined Swanage Railway veteran and pioneer since the late 1960s following her death at the age of 92.
Devoted to the cause, Moyra Cross was one of a handful of community-spirited volunteers who stood in Station Road, Swanage, in all weathers back in 1969 gathering signatures for a petition against British Rail closing the ten-mile branch line from Wareham.

Dorset’s childcare stars celebrated at awards ceremony

People dedicated to working with young children in Dorset were recently praised for their commitment at the annual Early Years and Childcare Awards ceremony.
The ceremony, organised by Dorset County Council, celebrated the nurseries, pre-schools and childminders that have received the highest Ofsted grade of ‘Outstanding’ over the last year. There are now 116 outstanding early years settings across Dorset.
