Poole CEO takes on Boston Marathon

A Poole-based entrepreneur and founder of the market leading marine electronics company will be running in the legendary 42.2 km Boston Marathon on Monday. Chief executive officer of Actisense, Phil Whitehurst, will be raising money for charity.

Having competed in a number of marathons over the years, Phil is now taking on the world’s oldest marathon which is celebrating its 120th anniversary this month. With a host of supporters sponsoring him on this side of the Atlantic, he will raise money for the Boston Marathon Official Charity Program which supports as many as 30 charities each year. The funds he will help to raise will go towards promoting healthy lifestyles through sports, especially running, and benefits communities in and around the Boston area.

Phil commented:“I am excited to be traveling to the United States to compete in this year’s Boston Marathon. To be part of this prestigious event and be running to raise money for Boston Marathon Official Charity Program’s fantastic selection of charities is an honour.
