Sunset walk raises thousands for Poole hospice
This the first event of its kind and it has so far raised more than £16,000 for Poole-based Forest Holme Hospice Charity.
The first every Sunset Walk organised by Forest Holme Hospice Charity attracted 450 participants.
Starting at Branksome Dene Community Room, people of all ages gathered to walk to the top of Evening Hill to watch the sun set over Sandbanks and Poole Harbour.
The event was sponsored by Marjorie House, part of Care South, whose support helped make the evening possible, with staff and residents from Marjorie House also taking part in the walk.
Claire Cooper, events and challenges manager at Forest Holme Hospice Charity, said: “The atmosphere was both emotional and uplifting, with people taking time to reflect, connect, share stories and support one another along the way. For many, it was a deeply personal experience, as well as a way to support the hospice.”
Rapid Relief kindly donated bottles of water to keep everyone hydrated en route, before participants returned to the Branksome Dene Community Room to enjoy refreshments from Pizza with Love.
The event has so far raised over £16,000, supporting Forest Holme Hospice in continuing to provide compassionate palliative and end-of-life care to people and families across the local area.
