The Sovereign Shopping Centre in Dorset leads the way
A shopping centre in Boscombe has been recognised worldwide for its outstanding commitment to environmental sustainability.
The Sovereign Shopping Centre has been selected from over 700 entries worldwide for an International Green Apple Environment Award. This recognition celebrates the centre’s ongoing dedication to reducing environmental impact through innovative energy efficiency measures, waste reduction initiatives, and community engagement programmes focused on sustainability.
The Sovereign Shopping Centre will be honoured at a prestigious awards ceremony to be held at the House of Lords on 17 November, 2025.
“We’re incredibly proud to receive this international recognition,” said Peter Ruscoe, centre manager. “Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and this award reflects the hard work of our team, our tenants, and our community in making a real difference.”
The International Green Apple Awards, established by The Green Organisation in 1994, honour environmental best practices across industries globally. Winning this accolade places The Sovereign Shopping Centre among the top-performing organisations setting new benchmarks for environmental responsibility.
“The achievement not only highlights the centre’s environmental accomplishments but also reinforces its role as a leader in sustainability within the retail sector,” added Peter Ruscoe.
