Wimborne in Bloom’s national accolade

imborne in Bloom is proud to announce that the Town of Wimborne Minster has been nominated by South and South East in Bloom to represent the Region for the Small Town Category in the 2015 National RHS Britain in Bloom Competition. This follows the success of 2012 when Wimborne achieved the great accolade of a national title with a Gold Award for the first time. The group’s target is to repeat this remarkable success in 2015. It will be the fifth time of entry into the National Competition in Wimborne in Bloom’s 22 years.

Douch’s treemendous effort for YMCA

Dorset’s Douch Family Funeral Directors donated £200 to the YMCA thanks to their Christmas trees of remembrance initiative.
Members of the public were invited to hang a message on a Christmas tree, displayed in the group’s branches, in memory of a loved one.
For a donation they could also hang a bauble and the money raised went to the Bournemouth YMCA’s winter appeal for the homeless.

Dorset drink drivers face consequences

More drink drivers will be facing the consequences of their actions following another successful drink and drug drive campaign in Dorset.
A total of 1086 breath tests were carried out by police officers during the Christmas campaign, which ran between 1 December 2014 and 1 January 2015, compared to 1848 during the same time the previous year.
