Chris Packham features in Bournemouth People’s Emergency Briefing screening

The event at The Pavilion takes place at 6pm on Tuesday 20 October and is free to attend.

TV presenter and environmentalist Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden from Dragons’ Den, comedian Jennifer Saunders and presenter Konnie Huq all feature in a free screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing at The Pavilion, Bournemouth at 6pm on Tuesday 20 October.

The new film brings together leading UK experts to explain, in clear and accessible terms, what the latest science says about the climate and nature crisis, how it is already affecting people’s lives, and what can still be done.

Rather than focusing on politics or campaigning, the film offers an evidence-based overview from specialists in areas including climate science, food systems, health, economics, national security, and extreme weather.

Sponsored by LUSH and hosted by Dorset Chamber, Dorset Wildlife Trust, BCP Council and Transition Town Poole, the screening in Bournemouth will be followed by an open discussion led by a panel of representatives from the hosts and local experts who will explore the film’s key themes before taking questions from the audience.

Ian Girling, chief executive at Dorset Chamber, said: “The People’s Emergency Briefing is a must-see for anyone who wants to better understand the challenges we’re all facing with climate change.

“These are issues that affect us all, including our businesses and communities here in Dorset, so we’re pleased to support this screening and encourage people to come along, hear the evidence and be part of the conversation.”

Organisers are keen to emphasise that the event is open to everyone and is not a campaign event.

No prior knowledge of climate or environmental issues is needed, and people are encouraged to come along with an open mind and take part in the discussion.

The event is suitable for those aged 16 and over.
