Money laundering duo jailed following Dorset Police investigation
Two jailed and given Serious Crime Prevention Orders for £240k laundering offences.
Two local men have been jailed for money laundering. Shane David Manny Chapman, 36, of Verwood and Christopher James Mills, 37, of Ringwood, were both sentenced for offences relating to the laundering of criminal property.
The pair were arrested in February 2024 on suspicion of money laundering contrary to Section 327 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, following an investigation into their finances by Dorset Police’s Serious Organised Crime Team.
Following further detailed enquiries, Chapman and Mills were charged. They were sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 5 November 2026 after both pleading guilty to the offence.
Chapman was sentenced to three years and four months in prison for laundering £152,378 derived from criminal property between January 2022 and February 2024.
Mills was sentenced to two years and 10 months in prison for laundering £88,737 derived from criminal property between January 2022 and February 2024.
In addition to the custodial sentences, the court granted Serious Crime Prevention Orders (SCPOs) against both defendants. These orders will take effect upon their release from custody and are designed to restrict and disrupt future criminal activity.
Detective Constable Ade Stocker, of the Dorset Police Serious Organised Crime Team, said: “Money laundering enables organised criminality to flourish by disguising the origins of criminal funds.
“This investigation demonstrates Dorset Police’s commitment to identifying, disrupting and prosecuting those who seek to profit from criminal activity.
“The movement of criminal property remains a serious offence in its own right and those responsible will continue to be targeted.
“Money laundering plays a vital role in enabling serious and organised crime. We will continue to identify, disrupt and prosecute those involved in handling criminal property and profiting from crime.”
Anyone with information about suspected money laundering, drug supply or organised criminality is encouraged to contact Dorset Police online or by calling 101. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
