Dad & Baby Walks coming soon in Dorchester
A new free community initiative will soon be launching for dads, dads-to-be and male carers with babies and young children across Dorset.
Dad & Baby Walks Dorset will offer free, buggy-friendly walks followed by an optional coffee and chat, helping to reduce isolation, improve wellbeing and encourage positive parent-child relationships.
Founder, Elias Stanners, realised from his own experience that there was a need for such a group.
He said: “Having recently become a full-time single dad, I quickly realised there were very few opportunities locally that were specifically designed for fathers. While there are many fantastic groups for parents, I couldn’t find one focused solely on dads and their little ones.”
He wanted to change that and created Dad & Baby Walk Dorset which will provide a welcoming, inclusive and judgement-free space where fathers can meet other dads, make friends, enjoy the outdoors with their children and know that they are not alone.
The regular meeting location will be: The Great Field, 1 Peverell Ave E, Poundbury, Dorchester DT1 3RH every Saturday morning.
“I’ll be looking to expand across Dorset in the future with more locations,” said Elias.
Dads can register their interest through the group’s Facebook page ahead of the official launch or by using this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfok6XDiAFfs2raBs7Iz4kWNgvKwuWpZ38SBrHdBTbYFkmB1w/viewform
