Dorset wowed by near-total eclipse of the heart
Where were you when the moon virtually blotted out the sun on 12 August along the Dorset coast?
From beach parties to kids holding colanders focused on garden walls and families lining up along Dorset’s streets to get the best view. It seemed everyone was out yesterday evening to enjoy the eclipse, a rare communal free-to-all event.
Dorset View’s managing director was at the Osprey observation platform near Rockley Park in Poole. Those who went along were privileged to have enthusiastic amateur astronomer Tim Guppy from Hamworthy on site who shared his high-powered solar eclipse equipment so everyone could view the once-in-a-generation eclipse safely.
