Fordingbridge singers are Paris bound
Fordingbridge Musical Theatre Choir will be performing at Parc Montsouris and on the Videopolis stage in Disneyland.
Fordingbridge Musical Theatre Choir is setting off on an International Tour next week.
A total of 45 members will be in Paris from 25 to 28 June, performing two programmes as well as enjoying the Parisian art and culture.
After almost a year of preparation, the choir is nearly ready to give two contrasting performances. They have secured a spot at the Kiosque en Fête au parc Montsouris, a historic bandstand in Parc Montsouris, one of the largest green spaces in Paris. This performance, on Friday morning at 11am, will include an extended ‘Les Misérables’ medley featuring many of the famous songs from the hit musical, as well as songs from ‘Footloose’, ‘Hamilton’ and ‘Sweet Charity’.
Following a challenging but ultimately successful audition process, the choir was delighted to have been chosen by the performing arts team at Disneyland to appear in one of the coveted spots on the main Videopolis stage. They’ve been called to arrive early on Saturday morning for blocking on stage and a sound and lighting check. The choir will then perform at 12.30pm, providing a spectacular show which will include hits from ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘The Lion King’, ‘’The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Hercules’.
Choir director Olivia Sparkhall said: “I’m incredibly proud of the hard work the choir has put into preparing for this tour, and of the high standard they are now achieving. We’ve been together for nearly three years and it’s remarkable how much progress the group has made in that time.”
