Mayor of Ferndown re-elected for third term
Cllr Lawrence Wilson has been re-elected as the Mayor of Ferndown.
Ferndown Town Council has chosen its new mayor for the 2026/27 term.
On Wednesday 13 May, at the Annual Council meeting, Ferndown Town Council elected Cllr Lawrence Wilson as the 46th Town Mayor of Ferndown.
This will be Cllr Wilson’s third term as mayor, having served in the role in 2022/23 and 2025/26. He has been a town councillor since 2015.
Cllr Wilson said: “It is a real privilege to be re-elected as Mayor of Ferndown. This will be my third term, and I feel extremely honoured. I look forward to continuing the important work of representing our community, promoting the town, and supporting local groups and residents.
“I am pleased to have Cllr Simon Cable as my Deputy Mayor. We have a great deal of work to do in the year ahead, but I know he will be a great support. I would also like to thank the outgoing Deputy Mayor, Cllr Philip Leach, for all the help he has given me over the past year.”
At the same meeting, Cllr Simon Cable was elected as Deputy Mayor, taking over the role from Cllr Philip Leach.
Cllr Cable said: “I would like to thank former Deputy Mayor Philip Leach for nominating me and my fellow councillors for believing in me to take up such an important and prestigious role. I will, of course, support our Mayor, Cllr Lawrence Wilson, to the best of my ability.”
The next full Town Council meeting will take place at the Barrington Centre on 24 June at 6.30pm.
