Pony therapy at a Poole hospital
Mr Kelloggs the pony was a hit with mental health patients at the Dorset Healthcare-run Alderney Hospital, giving them a chance to stroke him.
A pony has brought joy to mental health patients in Poole.
Mr Kelloggs visited inpatients on St Brelades and Herm wards as well as day patients at Alderney Hospital which is run by Dorset HealthCare.
Ruth Konda, therapies lead and physiotherapist for dementia inpatients at Alderney Hospital, said: “The horse brought so much joy to our patients. Animal therapy can offer significant mental health benefits, including reduced anxiety, improved mood, increased social engagement, and a sense of calm and connection. As well as the patients, staff had a brilliant time, and the positive impact was evident throughout the visit.”
The visit was from Linking Hearts Therapy Horses. To find out mor about the service, visit https://www.facebook.com/Linkingheartstherapyhorses.
