Sea kayakers complete challenge for The Blandford School
Adventurers travelled from Swanage to Old Harry Rocks then on to The Needles and back.
Two Paddle UK sea kayak leaders, Paul Jenkins and Allen Westerby, who are both members of Poole Harbour Canoe Club, have successfully completed the famously gruelling challenge of sea kayaking from Swanage to Old Harry Rocks then on to The Needles and back to Swanage in the same day.
The demanding open sea crossing, which requires meticulous planning at every stage is known as Double Chalk-to-Chalk. Paul and Allen took more than 14 hours to cover the 40-mile (64km) distance in challenging conditions.
The aim of the completed challenge is to raise £10,000 to help the science faculty at The Blandford School to purchase much-needed new science equipment that would otherwise not be possible within the financial constraints of current government school funding.
