A convivial atmosphere at Potterne Park kept the scudding clouds far enough away for everyone to enjoy the Rustic Fayre under fine bank holiday Monday weather.

Opened by AFC Bournemouth’s former chairman Jeff Mostyn and Verwood Rotary Club President Andy Maw, there was a warm welcome for all as the Purple Parrots steel drum band played under the shade of the pavilion. In the beer tent, the Vocalize Choir and The Flamin’ Ukes belted out classic songs and tunes as the drinks flowed.

Around the arena, BMX bikes soared into the sky and visitors joined in for tug of war and games. Many stalls attracted attention, raising money and awareness for many good causes plus ponies, while chrome-polished cars and a busy trade at the bar. All soundtracked by Verwood’s Brass Band, as the dog show and pony racing took to the stage.

With a great turnout, the event continues to support local charities, with last year’s event raising over £19,000. The day also provided a great place for visitors to catch up with old friends, find new hobbies and donate to the many great causes.
