£20 million available for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole areas
The funding is available for Boscombe West, Hamworthy West and Turlin Moor, and West Howe over the next decade.
The funding is available for Boscombe West, Hamworthy West and Turlin Moor, and West Howe over the next decade.
Up to £20 million is available to be spent over the next decade in each of three areas in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council conurbation.
Residents in Boscombe West, Hamworthy West and Turlin Moor, and West Howe have the chance to have their say on how the money should be spent.
The neighbourhoods have been selected for investment through the UK government’s Pride in Place programme.
Cllr Sandra Moore, BCP Council Cabinet member for communities and partnerships, said: “Pride in Place is all about working with and for your community, and I would encourage anyone who wants to help improve things locally to get involved and apply today.
“Being part of the programme is a great way to give back and do an awful lot of good for your friends, neighbours and everyone who lives alongside you.”
Boscombe West, Hamworthy West and Turlin Moor, and West Howe will each form a neighbourhood board to engage their community, set a vision, develop investment priorities, and design and deliver their unique Pride in Place Plan.
These boards will be made up of representatives from local communities, residents, community groups and businesses and will be chaired by an independent Pride in Place neighbourhood chairperson, who will work closely with other residents, the local MP and community organisations to ensure decisions truly reflect local priorities and views.
To have a say in how £20 million is spent in your area, apply to be a board member or chairperson for each board. More information can be found at https://www.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/campaigns-and-programmes/pride-in-place.
Experience is not necessary, as training will be given, but local insight is essential.
