Bournemouth play areas to be refurbished in £4.6 million investment
Designs for five play areas have been announced and in total 120 will see upgrades and refurbishments over the coming months.
A £4.6 million investment by BCP Council will see improvements to 120 play areas across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Major refurbishment designs for Noyce Gardens, Mallard Road, Muscliff Park, King’s Park and Bourne Valley have already been announced, shaped by the ideas of local children, young people and families.
Cllr Sandra Moore, BCP Council’s portfolio holder for Play Strategy, said: “We’re making good progress with our play area refurbishments and these designs are a shining example of the influence local communities can have.
“As a mum and a grandma, I am incredibly proud of the work this council is doing to put high quality play areas back at the heart of our communities.”
Start dates for each site will be announced soon: as well as work at Anchor Close, Churchill Gardens, Hamworthy Park and plenty more.
Work is set to ramp up over the next six months with a host of major upgrades and refurbishments at key sites.
In recent weeks, the team has completed a major refurb of Treasure Island, in Canford Cliffs, and made improvements at a host of sites including Beaufort Park, Kingston Road, Fenners Field and Moordown Rec.
