Dementia-friendly concert for Ferndown
Organised by Ferndown Dementia Friendly Town, the concert by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra was accompanied by cake.
People living with dementia, their carers and families enjoyed a Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) Cake Concert at the Royal British Legion in Ferndown recently.
Organised by Ferndown Dementia Friendly Town, the relaxed afternoon concert featured BSO’s Teatime Trio performing a selection of classical favourites and light music, accompanied by tea, coffee and cake.
The event was made possible through the support of a number of organisations, including Tesco Ferndown, A E Jolliffe & Son Funeral Directors, Fernhill Care Home, and Amberwood House and Parley Place Care Home.
A spokesperson for Ferndown Dementia Friendly Town said: “Seeing people singing along, sharing memories and simply enjoying time together was wonderful. Music has a unique ability to connect people, and events like this show how important it is to create dementia-friendly opportunities within our community. We are incredibly grateful to Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, our local partners, volunteers and supporters who helped make the afternoon such a success.”
