Discover healthy honey across Dorset’s beekeeper shows

Honey seems like a boom industry in Dorset, with pubs, rustic fayres and other outlets pushing all sorts of amazing flavours. And with many proven health benefits as a soothing source of antioxidants, and antibacterial qualities, it is a favourite natural remedy.

To taste the best of the best, there are two local shows taking place this autumn.

First up is the East Dorset Beekeeping Association, holding its free Annual Honey Show in early October. With free honey tasting, beeswax creations, tea and cake. Running on 3 October from 1pm to 4pm at the Wimborne Community Centre, visitors can enjoy the finest honey and learn more about production and benefits.

Then, there’s The Bournemouth & Dorset South Beekeepers’ Annual Bee Keeper
Show on Saturday 14 November. Encouraging visitors to take an interest in bees, taking place at St Catherine’s Hill Community Hall.

Entry is free and there will be lots to see, do, eat and buy with some new exciting classes added to this year’s Show. Beekeeping has become ever-more popular in the UK, with lots of publicity around the decrease in numbers of bees.
