Discover ‘The Magic Behind the Curtain’ in Wimborne

Wimborne Musical Theatre presents a journey through musicals at the Allendale Centre’s Minster Theatre in November.

Wimborne Musical Theatre is inviting audiences to step behind the curtain for its November production.

‘The Magic Behind the Curtain’ tells the story of a devoted caretaker who has spent years looking after a once-loved, though now forgotten theatre. For years, he kept the ghost light burning, refusing to believe the magic had gone. As the past begins to stir, familiar melodies echo through the empty auditorium, and long-lost stories emerge from behind the curtain. What follows is a celebration of the enduring magic of live theatre — and a reminder that some stories never truly disappear.

The show features music spanning generations and genres from Cats to 42nd Street, Mamma Mia to Kinky Boots — there really is something for everyone. Audiences can look forward to favourites including Luck Be a Lady from Guys and Dolls, Consider Yourself from Oliver, Pure Imagination from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and ‘Good Morning Baltimore’ from Hairspray.

Director Hilary Baker said: “Fresh off the back of the society’s success with Shrek the Musical at the Tivoli Theatre earlier this year, we are delighted to be bringing back together on stage our talented adult and junior members for this show. They have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes and have made me very proud. “Indeed, their combined passion for musical theatre and dedication to learning the tricky harmonies and choreography promises to make this a memorable show for all.”

Direction is assisted by Alan Colclough, with choreography provided by Hermione Mason and vocal arrangements supported by Selina Rumbold. Over 30 of the society’s adult and junior members will appear in the production.

The show will be performed by Wimborne Musical Theatre Society on Saturday 14 November at the Minster Theatre in the Allendale Centre, with performances at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
