Have your say on the future of Burton and Winkton

Cllr Millie Earl, leader of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council is urging people to put forward their views.

Residents and businesses have until 6 September to have their say on a draft Neighbourhood Plan prepared by the parish council that will help shape how Burton and Winkton develops in the years ahead.

The draft plan includes policies that address housing and employment needs, support community facilities, and promote safe walking and cycling routes. It also seeks to protect the rural character of the area, heritage, views and landmarks, while supporting high-quality design and providing guidance on building form, materials, layout and sustainable drainage.

It also designates local green spaces and a strategic green gap. It supports existing Local Plan allocations and the reuse of identified sites.

Cllr Millie Earl, leader of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council, said:

“This draft Neighbourhood Plan is about giving the local community a stronger voice in how Burton and Winkton develops over the coming years. It sets out how development can take place in a way that reflects local priorities, including housing, infrastructure and the protection of green spaces and local character.

“Taking part in the consultation is an important opportunity to shape the future of the parish, and we’d encourage everyone to have their say.”

Following the consultation, all responses will be submitted to an independent examiner for consideration alongside the draft Neighbourhood Plan.
