Invitation to join community hub in Hamworthy
The Power House in Poole runs activities including creative sessions, gardening, volunteering opportunities and relaxed spaces to chat and connect.
An arts and wellbeing charity based in Hamworthy is hoping more people will become involved.
The Power House in Poole is celebrating its second anniversary. It runs various activities throughout the week, including creative sessions, gardening, volunteering opportunities and relaxed spaces to chat and connect.
Alongside the hub, the charity also runs the Cornerstone Patch, which is a community garden where people of all ages can help grow vegetables and flowers, learn new skills and enjoy spending time outdoors together.
Next year, The Power House celebrates 10 years of supporting the Hamworthy community.
The charity began with local residents who saw a need for more support, connection and creative opportunities in the area. Since then, it has grown into a trusted local charity supporting people of all ages.
Alix Rusling, one of the founders and project manager at The Power House, said:
“When we opened the doors, our hope was to create a place where people feel welcome, supported and part of something positive.
“Every week, we see friendships form, confidence grow and people trying something new and taking positive steps for their wellbeing.
“We’re incredibly proud of what has been achieved so far and excited about what comes next for The Power House and Hamworthy.”
The Power House has been supported by local funders and organisations including Dorset Community Foundation, National Lottery Community Fund, Asda Foundation, BCP Council and Co-op Local Community Fund.
Dorset Community Foundation Chairman Tom Flood said: “The Power House makes such a difference to its community and we’ve been pleased to support its work, particularly through the hub, which is such a warm, welcoming space for people to connect, build their confidence and even develop new skills.”
People are encouraged to visit, get involved or find out what’s on by visiting 170 Blandford Road, Hamworthy, Poole, BH15 4BH or going to the website: www.thepowerhousepoole.org.
