A cheque for £1,000 has been presented by Ferndown Neighbourcare to the local animal charity Waggy Tails Rescue. Ferndown Neighbourcare (NeighbourCars) was set up in 2008 with initial funding from the Partnership for Older People’s Projects (POPPS). It has also received financial support from Ferndown Town Council, Age UK,and Ferndown Neighbourhood Watch. It is now fully self funding.
During the winter months of 2012/2013 Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) have been the host venue for the RYA Winter Match Racing Series running from December 2012 through to April 2013.
