Young adults with SEND graduate with jobs

With the full support of Amazon, their SWRAC tutor and Discovery job coach, the three SWRAC students spent a year working across departments at an Amazon depot, They are now official employees at Amazon’s Poole distribution centre.

SWRAC is looking for more young people with SEND to begin Supported Internships at the centre in Sterte Avenue West starting this September.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, hosted by Amazon and attended by the interns’ friends and families, Centre Manager Julian Gomez said: “I would like to congratulate all our interns who have worked so hard and become such a valuable part of our team.

“This is a brilliant initiative that gives young people the chance to develop skills, build confidence, and gain real workplace experience in a supportive environment. It’s fantastic to see partnerships like this creating meaningful opportunities and pathways into employment.”

Rachel Taylor, Manager of SWRAC’s Boscombe campus said: “I would like to thank Amazon for opening its doors and providing our interns with such valuable workplace opportunities. By welcoming them into the business, Amazon has helped them gain real experience, develop professional behaviours, and understand what it means to be part of a team. Experiences like this are incredibly powerful because they show young people that employment is not just an aspiration, but something they can achieve.”
