Homecare company in line for Dorset Care Award
GoodOaks Homecare Bournemouth and Poole is hoping for success in the forthcoming Dorset Care Awards on 8 May.
A local care provider which has been shortlisted for two Dorset Care Awards will find out on 8 May if it is a winner.
GoodOaks Homecare Bournemouth and Poole has been named a finalist in two categories: the Innovation Award and the Rising Star Award.
The Innovation Award nomination recognises GoodOaks’ proactive approach to supporting health and wellbeing, including its free digital health checks offered at local community events. Using portable monitoring technology, the team provides on-the-spot checks for blood pressure, oxygen levels, temperature and more, helping local people better understand their health.
The events have been well received locally, with many people taking the opportunity to get checked and speak to the team.
Rachael Dormer, registered manager at the branch, said: “These health checks are about making support more accessible within the community. For many people, it offers reassurance and a chance to better understand their health without the worry of waiting for an appointment. We’ve also been able to spot early signs of potential issues and encourage people to seek further support, which can make a real difference.”
Alongside this, the Rising Star nomination recognises Care Coordinator Rumbie Mhunduru, who joined GoodOaks in 2023 and has quickly progressed within the organisation. Known for her warmth and dedication, she has become a trusted support for both clients and colleagues.
Rachael said: “Rumbie is an incredible asset to our team. She brings such warmth and compassion to everything she does, and she genuinely cares about people. Whether it’s supporting a client or helping a colleague, she always goes above and beyond. We’re so proud to see her recognised as a Rising Star.”
