Invitation to join Women of Dorset project
Women in Dorset are invited to sign up to join a project celebrating the contribution of women in local history.

Following on from International Women’s Day, which took place on Saturday 8 March, local women are invited to join the Women of Dorset Project.
A research session which took place at the Dorset History Centre created a huge amount of public interest with Women of Dorset bringing together an inspiring group of women on International Women’s Day. The event was hosted by director Penny Levick, playwright Stephanie Dale and producer Rowan Seymour, the creative forces dedicated to uncovering and celebrating the hidden lives of Dorset’s remarkable women.
Women discussed real but lesser-known stories from Dorset’s past. They explored ideas, shared personal insight and built a collective vision for the creation of a new stage play with three professional actors and a community chorus of women.
Women of Dorset is launching a series of free and fun workshops across the county inviting women of all backgrounds to join.
Participants will have the chance to share their knowledge of, and connections to, Dorset’s history and if they wish, to take part in creative exercises, including movement and storytelling.
