Wimborne celebrates another successful Folk Festival
Wimborne Folk Festival was held on 6–8 June. Despite heavy rainfall on Saturday, the event drew in significant crowds.

Wimborne’s annual celebration of traditional folk music and dance was held on 6–8 June. While heavy rainfall put a dampener (literally) on Saturday’s festivities, the event still attracted lots of visitors to the Dorset town.
One of the festival’s supporters was Wimborne BID (business improvement district). The manager of Wimborne BID, Tammy Sleet, shared this comment following the event:
“It was great to see so many businesses taking advantage of the thousands of potential customers attending the Folk Festival.
“The British spirit was definitely on show as people came out to enjoy the event on Saturday despite the rain, and we celebrated in the sunshine on Sunday.
“The new festival cups were a huge success and anecdotally drastically reduced the amount of plastic waste discarded over the weekend.
“One of the main aims of Wimborne BID is to encourage visitors to the town and this annual event, which the BID is proud to support, really helps put Wimborne on the map as a go-to destination – even in the pouring rain! We hope that everyone had a wonderful time and comes back to Wimborne soon.”
Wimborne BID is also helping to organise the Wimborne Food Festival on Saturday 20 September. The festival will see live cooking demos, food stalls and other delicious events pop up around the town.
