Wimborne Minster Folk Festival continues to thrive
The Folk Festival enjoyed a huge turnout during the sunny summer weekend.
After a very wet and rainy 2025, visitors to this year’s Wimborne Minster Folk Festival enjoyed fantastic weather on the weekend of 12–14 June.
The annual event has been running consistently since the 1980s, as a celebration of traditional folk music and dance styles.
Throughout the weekend, visitors and residents enjoyed listening to music on stages on Willow Walk, in The Square, outside The Olive Branch and next to Allendale House, as well as street performances on East Street, at busking stops and in pub venues across the town.
Willow Walk was a hive of family entertainment, with bouncy castles and carnival games, while the High Street had a selection of food vans and market stalls. Several Dorset breweries sold their selections at the Microbrewery next to the Allendale Centre.
The Saturday afternoon processions was full of sound and colour, as bands and dance troupes enjoyed the glorious sunshine – a very direct contrast to last year’s soggy parade.
Wimborne Minster was packed as Saturday went on, with queues for many bars and venues. Once again, the town proved it knows how to throw a party.
The next major events in the town include the Wimborne in Bloom Duck Race on 29 August at 4pm, and the Wimborne Food Festival on 19 September.
