Dorset hospice charity opens new shop in Ferndown
Lewis-Manning Hospice Care opened its 10th retail shop, the House Clearance Shop, at the end of January.

Dorset-based charity, Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, has opened its 10th retail shop which will offer sustainable, preloved items at affordable prices, with all proceeds directly supporting the hospice’s vital services.
The House Clearance Shop is located at 44-46 Victoria Road in Ferndown and opened on 29 January. The shop was officially launched by Deputy Lieutenant of Dorset, Jacqueline Swift, and the Mayor of Ferndown Mayor, Cllr Terry Cordery.
During the opening event, the local community was invited to meet the team, enjoy refreshments, and browse the store’s inventory, which ranges from furniture to homewares. Purchasing preloved items not only supports the charity but benefits the environment by preventing landfill waste.
Lewis-Manning’s Director of Retail Susan Newcombe said: “We are thrilled to be opening our 10th shop in Ferndown, a vibrant hub at the heart of the communities we serve. This is not only an opportunity to offer even more amazing bargains, but also to highlight the important role our house clearance and recycling services play in supporting those with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Poole, Purbeck, East Dorset, Bournemouth, and West Hampshire.
“The shop is spacious, with plenty of storage space, and the added benefit of 20 free car parking spaces which makes shopping more convenient for our customers.
“We’re incredibly proud of the impact our charity has on sustainability. Just last week alone, we sold 7,738 items, preventing them from ending up in landfill and saving an impressive 107,349.70 kg in CO2 emissions. Expanding our retail network will help us further this mission and generate much-needed funds for our services.”
The hospice is grateful to the many local businesses who supported the opening, including Goadsby’s, Frettens Solicitors, Bradlea Builders, MBE Electricians, Talis Surveying, Karndean Flooring and Mauveworx.
Lewis-Manning’s house clearance service helps those moving, downsizing, or clearing out a home. Lewis-Manning’s team can offset the value of any preloved items against the cost of the clearance.
