Invitation to Wimborne sports website launch
The launch of Wimborne Sports and Active Leisure Forum takes place on Thursday 9 July at Wimborne Town Football Club.
Local people are invited to attend the Wimborne Sports and Active Leisure Forum which will launch officially its new website at its next meeting on Thursday 9 July at Wimborne Town Football Club.
The meeting will begin at 7pm, with refreshments and networking from 6.30pm, but it will finish before the World Cup Quarter Final.
A key feature of the new website is a comprehensive directory of sports and active leisure organisations across the Wimborne area.
The launch will be attended by Vikki Slade MP, who will join Forum members and local organisations to mark this important milestone.
The meeting is open not only to existing Forum members but also to sports clubs, leisure organisations, businesses and community groups who would like to learn more about the Forum and explore opportunities to be included in the growing directory.
The Forum was established as part of Wimborne Town of Culture and aims to:
- Be a collective voice for local sport and leisure organisations
- Promote participation and health-enhancing behaviours for all ages
- Embed sport and leisure as an integral part of Wimborne’s culture.
Following the success of the Festival of Sport held in April, the meeting will also provide an opportunity for attendees to discuss future priorities and help shape the next phase of the Forum’s development.
Bill Jaggs, acting chairman of the Forum said: “The launch of the website https://activewimborne.org.uk is an important step in helping residents find out about the fantastic range of sporting and active leisure opportunities available in the Wimborne area. We are delighted to welcome Vikki Slade MP to the launch and look forward to hearing ideas from local organisations about how the Forum can build on the success of the Festival of Sport and continue to grow.”
Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to email the Forum on info@activewimborne.org.uk for further information or just turn up.
