New event promises a taste of Christchurch
Christchurch Rotary Club is launching ‘Dinner About Town’, a unique dining experience taking place in September.
Food fans can take part in the new dining experience on Saturday 16 September as Christchurch Rotary Club launches ‘Dinner About Town’.
The event sees diners move between four of the town’s most prestigious restaurants for different courses. It aims to showcase the local culinary scene while raising vital funds for charity.
For its first year, the Rotary has partnered with Captain’s Club Hotel & Spa, The Priory Restaurant, The Boathouse and Eighteen Restaurant & Bar, which is located inside The Kings Arms.
The evening begins with a communal Champagne reception, after which guests are given a ‘Dining Passport’ revealing their personal culinary trail. Diners will enjoy a different course at three of the four participating restaurants, with a leisurely stroll through the historic town centre between each venue.
Stewart Day, event organiser and Christchurch Rotarian, said: “We wanted to create an event that truly captures the spirit of Christchurch — combining our beautiful surroundings with the exceptional hospitality our town is known for. While this is our first year, we see this as a ‘proof of concept’ that we hope to expand significantly in 2027 and beyond. The support from the local restaurants has been fantastic, and we are excited to offer guests a social, adventurous way to dine while supporting a very worthy cause.”
Dinner About Town will raise funds for Parkinson’s UK (Christchurch Branch), alongside various local community projects supported by the Rotary Club.
Jan Banks, president of Christchurch Rotary, added: “Service to the community is at the heart of everything we do at Rotary. Dinner About Town is a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy a first-class meal while knowing that every ticket sold contributes directly to the vital work of Christchurch Rotary and the Christchurch branch of Parkinson’s UK. We are incredibly proud to bring this new fixture to the Christchurch social calendar and look forward to a sell-out evening.”
Tickets are now on sale and capacity is strictly limited to ensure a premium experience.
Menu options — including meat, fish and vegetarian choices — will be released to ticket holders in July, with all selections required by 15 August to allow the kitchens to prepare for the night.
