Yeehaw! Make your own cowboy hat with Dorset’s disability charity
Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity, is hosting a craft workshop in May for people to make their own cowboy hat.

A local disability charity is hosting a fun craft event on Wednesday 7 May where attendees get to make their own cowboy hat – a perfect and stylish way to protect your head from the sun this summer.
Diverse Abilities’ Cowboy Hat Workshop will have trusty craft leaders on hand to guide you through the process of customising your hat with various haberdashery, trinkets, and accessories. There will also be the option to brand letters or embroider a design.
The workshop will be held at The Treehouse, the charities children’s hub in Hurn (The Treehouse, Merritown Lane, Christchurch, BH23 6DT). The event will also raise money to support children and adults with physical and learning disabilities across the Dorset area.
Demi Tarrant, events executive at Diverse Abilities, said: “We can’t wait to get creative, and design some really unique cowboy hats. They are the perfect accessory for summer festivals and events and would be fantastic for our Country Roots event in June.”
Country Roots is an evening of live music and line dancing, taking place on Friday 6 June.
The cowboy hat workshop is part of the charity’s ongoing craft club, which meets each month. Future scheduled workshops include pottery painting on Tuesday 10 June and a watercolour workshop on Tuesday 15 July.
Founded in 1955, Diverse Abilities is the only charity that supports children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities, and their families, in Dorset.
